The Curatorial Intern will be involved in the coordination and organization of the Summer 2012 and Fall/Winter 2012-13 exhibitions in addition to researching ongoing video and permanent collection projects. The Intern will gain an understanding of the balance between the public face of the museum and the behind-the-scenes planning of museum exhibitions and administration.
The intern will correspond with and conduct research on artists, and develop exhibition checklists. The intern will also work closely with the Collection Manager on the registration of outgoing artworks from the Spring season and incoming artwork for the Summer season, including visiting the Artists-in-Residence (AIR) studios to asses work for the summer exhibition. Other responsibilities include: archiving past exhibition information; conducting artist research; preparing condition reports; and preparing loan agreements. Curatorial staff will work with the intern individually on projects that have specific research or writing requirements, and expose him/her to the aspects of the curatorial process of greatest interest or opportunity.
