Education and Community Engagement Intern As a museum that serves a wide range of visitors, it is critical that Sugar Hill's educational approach be clear and accessible to all audiences, especially since the majority of the museum's visitors are children.
The Intern will support the Education and Community Engagement Department as it examines and develops its Visitor Engagement materials offsite, onsite, and online. During this summer opportunity, the Intern will learn how the museum engages with visitors and subsequently documents those interactions.
Documenting visitor interactions and engagement through observation, photos, and interviews
Participating in offsite fairs/festivals for documentation and engagement cues
Developing Visitor Engagement Materials, as they relate to on-view art exhibitions, future exhibitions, and Studio Labs exploration space
Implementing developed Visitor Engagement Materials with actual visitors to assess user-ability and ease
Qualifications The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, highly-organized individual with solid research skills. S/he has exceptional writing abilities, as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite. Preference will go to students with a demonstrated interest in education, the arts, and/or museum studies. Interest in program curriculum development and community engagement a plus.
