This position requires that the Intern research and create projects related to the upcoming exhibition, Karma Gardri "Revival of the Encampment Style", scheduled to open at RMA in Spring, 2009. The student will have the opportunity to work directly with the Producer and Manager of Programming in determining RMA programmatic content. The student will learn how to research, market, and execute theatrical programs including talks, music performances, film screenings, and theatrical performances. Art History background is a plus.
The Intern will spend a substantial amount of time learning about Himalayan artistic styles and about the logistics of presenting programs to the public and will become versed in the Museum's intentions for, and content of, the exhibition
The Intern must possess excellent research skills and have the ability to assimilate her/his research and to summarize and highlight essential information. Intern should be proficient in MS Word, Power Point, Excel and web research. Prior knowledge of Himalayan art and culture is helpful but not required. The intern will be responsible for compiling data related to the exhibition with a view to programmatic content.
Applicant should be outgoing and able to work with a variety of personalities and should be confident working with the public as a representative of the Museum. Must be available to work on Friday evenings.
