Community Outreach Intern The intern will act as the primary point of contact and facilitation for Play in the Park programming throughout the summer. They will also develop a museum-inspired arts-based activity that encompasses playfulness, creativity and collaboration to deliver during the Play in the Park in the last weeks of their experience. The intern will also research community outreach opportunities and volunteer programs in the Providence area, as well as museums in general.
Projects include: - Research best practices in informal education and program development for museum settings - Learn the logistics of coordinating and delivering institutional programming - Receive training on museum interactions, play facilitation and informal learning frameworks - Participate in play facilitation in varied settings - Development of recommendations for PCM - Create a play inspired community art activity for an outside space
Qualifications - Academic background in early childhood / elementary education or art/art education - Demonstrated interest in community engagement - Interest in the ways in which learning takes place in a museum environment, as well as the ways children learn and play - The ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills - Consistently produces analytical, reliable, resourceful and thorough work
