_Development Intern

Museum of the City of New York

The Development Intern will assist in preparing grant proposals to foundations and corporations for a minimum of two discrete, specific projects.

The Intern will have the opportunity to work with Curatorial, Education and/or Public Programs staff to better understand the expenses and budgets of each project and to create/modify language for project descriptions.  The Intern may need to do primary-source research in the Museum's collection for this purpose as well.  The Intern will learn about the content of the projects s/he is working on, and about the process of executing exhibitions and programs in a museum.

The Intern's fundraising work will include research and writing.  S/he will perform internet and phone research to find potential funders, compile funding packets, and submit funding proposals.  The Intern will be asked to pitch in on Development projects as needed, including but not limted to preparing for and staffing events, and folding and stuffing letters.

Interested candidates who meet all eligibility requirements should submit all parts of their applications by email to the contact below.  Please see this website’s “HOW TO APPLY” section for more details.

Qualifications:

The Intern will need excellent English writing skills, and familiarity with PC applications, especially Microsoft Office.  The Intern must be attentive to detail.  Their responsibilities will include thorough and accurate prospect research, careful proposal preparation, and consolidating and maintaining corporate and proposal files.  Should the Intern demonstrate the required skills, s/he could have ownership of the fundraising efforts for at least two upcoming projects during the summer.
