Finance Intern In this summer internship opportunity, the student will be immersed in the operations of the Museum's Finance Department. S/he will learn about the various endeavors that the Museum undertakes, and the financial implications of each one.
The Finance Intern will work with sub-groups of the greater Finance Department - Budget & Planning, Controller, Procurement, and Treasury. S/he will interview staff members in each designation, review existing documentation, and write up a comprehensive manual of each group's policies and procedures. Areas of focus will include, but are not limtied to: production of reporting from the General Ledger system, recording of revenue transactions from initiation of transaction to receipt of cash, processing of invoices for payment, and initiation of purchase requisitions to generation of purchase orders.
Documenting policies and procedures within the Finance Department
Interviewing staff members on policies/procedures
Reviewing internal cost allocation process
Reviewing existing documentation of Department policies
Developing recommendations for alterations to process streamlining information gathering and administration of facilities allocations
Qualifications The ideal candidate is highly-organized, with a strong skill set in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. S/he has excellent written and oral communication skills. This position is an especially good fit for a student with a background in Finance, Economics, or Business.
