Interpretation Intern The Independence Seaport Museum is growing in new and exciting ways. We have recently installed new exhibits and experiences that need audience feedback in order to move to the next level. We are looking for an intern to assist us in this process. Students will help develop our future direction through data collection and by monitoring both general visits and school groups. At the end of the summer, the intern will provide the museum with a detailed report that summarizes that data collected from a survey of their own creation, as well as ideas for growing and developing visitor experiences.
Projects include: - Evaluate Independence Seaport Museum's exhibits and observe our visitors' interactions with them - Assess which components of exhibitions are most interesting to visitors - Develop survey questions based on the intern's observations of museum visitors - Create and distribute surveys to visitors and collect answers - Assist in testing various ways to present interactive experiences, from video games to music and sound. - Learn history and content for exhibitions on ships and submarines
Qualifications - The intern should be outgoing and enjoy interacting with the general public - Good penmanship and computer skills are necessary - Experience with data collection or customer service skills preferred, but not required - An interest in history or the museum's programming is highly favorable!
