_DesignPrep Education Intern
COOPER-HEWITT, National Design Museum
The project that the intern will focus most of his/her time on is the DesignPrep program which offers design workshops, studio visits, and design school visits to high school students. The intern will craft publication information for each program, maintain communication with the high school students involved, and assist with preparation and implementation of the programs. They will travel with the youth participants during off-site programming on visits to design studios and colleges. The intern will also assist with marketing and promoting DesignPrep via Twitter, Facebook and the museum blog.
As needed, the intern will be asked to assist with other education programs which will take place throughout the 9 weeks of their internship. This can include public and teacher programs. This will allow the intern to experience various types of programs and their development, and learn how an education department operates wtihin a museum environment.
Note: At the time of the internship, “Graphic Design: Now in Production” will be on view at Governors Island. Therefore, a rotating schedule will be in place which would require a weekend work schedule approximately 3 times during the course of the internship, along with the potential of assisting with programs throughout the week at this location.

Qualifications:
The intern must be detail oriented and well organized as well as must possess excellent verbal communication skills. Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Mail Chimp and EventBrite is highly recommended. Knowledge of digital technology tools and platforms is also a plus; iPads, FlipCam, MacBook. If the intern does not already possess knowledge of these programs, the intern will learn basic skills.
