El Museo del Barrio
The intern will work directly with the Manager of Public Relations to improve the museum’s existing methods of press outreach, analysis of marketing plans, tracking attendance and identifying areas of the market served and gathering visitor information. The overall project will consist of several tasks and responsibilities, focusing on developing and monitoring publicity for El Museo’s summer public programs.
Additionally, the intern will assist with inviting and greeting the press at these events, event photography, videography and documentation in order to create interactive media to be posted on El Museo’s website and blog page.
Qualifications:
- Communications major or related area of study
- Interest in museums, Latino/ Latin American/ Caribbean cultures, and visual arts.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Competent computer skills are required
- Must be comfortable with MS Word, working knowledge of Excel, and Photoshop
- Must be willing to work with timelines and deadlines and demonstrate serious commitment to tasks and responsibilities
Desired Skills:
- Graphic design skills
- Detail oriented and organized
- Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills
- Must be a collegial team player who works well with staff and functions well independently.
- Able to work among a diverse staff and museum audience
- Bilingual Spanish/ English skills are preferred
