The Museum of theCity of NewYork's Development Department seeks a college-age intern to assist in researching, writing and submitting grant proposals. This internship offers an excellentopportunity to learn about the museum field, including curatorial work andmuseum education, and gain valuable experience in an office setting.
The intern willwork with the Director of Development and the Director of Corporate Giving toidentify prospective foundation and corporate funders, and will collaboratewith curatorial, education and/or public program staff to create or modifyproposal language as necessary.
The intern willwork on securing funding for several projects, potentially including some orall of the following:
- Perform! Cabaret, a performance series in which award-winning Broadway performers bring to life songs that relate to the Museum's world-famous Theater Collection
- Amsterdam/New Amsterdam: The Worlds of Henry Hudson, an exhibition opening in 2009
- Alexander Hamilton Circle, the Museum's corporate membership program
- School Programs, the Museum's renowned education programs for children ages 5-13
The intern willalso be responsible for maintaining the corporate and foundation files for theduration of the internship.
Required Skills:
- Attention to detail
- Excellent writing skills
- Fluency in Microsoft Word
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel
- Interest in New York City-related topics - of all kinds!
