Video Illustration/Animation and Graphic Design Intern The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is increasing the amount of science news content it provides, both on-site and online. To facilitate this effort, the museum is seeking an extremely talented graphic design intern.
The intern will work with the Science Communications Officer to produce visual science content that will appear at the museum and on its website. For example, for the featured deep brain stimulation podcast, the intern would create a short video animation showing how the electrodes are positioned in the appropriate part of the brain, and how the stimulation works to improve a stroke patient’s movement.
Another project the intern will work on is adding regularly updated science content to programmable touchscreens in order to improve the museum’s permanent exhibits. As another example: if the vertebrate paleontology curator were to discover a new horned dinosaur species, the intern would produce animated slides for the touchscreen describing details of the find.
Qualifications The Graphic Design Intern must have a strong graphic design and digital multi-media background, including the ability to use illustration, animation, photo-editing and video-editing software. He/she must also have excellent writing skills. The ideal candidate is highly creative and self-motivated, and will enjoy collaborating with a small, tight-knit department on exciting projects.
Application To apply for this position, please send all required information listed under "How to Apply" to HR@cmnh.org with “Arts Intern” in the subject line.
