Image Research Intern The Barnes Foundation is seeking a detail-oriented intern to research and update the catalog data of paintings, sculpture, and other artworks mentioned or illustrated in Albert Barnes’ The Art in Painting and the essays of Violette de Mazia published in the Journal of the Barnes Foundation and Vistas. The intern will research, collect, document, and organize high-quality images of the artwork.
The images will be used in courses taught at the Barnes Foundation, which are based on the tenets of John Dewey's philosophy and utilize an objective method of investigation applied to the study of art.
Researching Art in Painting and de Mazia’s numerous essays
Searching both of the Foundation’s internal image databases for works within the Foundation collection
Recording and combining images with identifying information
Qualifications The successful candidate has strong independent study skills and is highly self-motivated. S/he is skilled with both research and administrative tasks, and is able to turn their research into writing. Preference will go to students with a background in art or art history.
